The OHS Act 85 of 1993 requires employers to provide a working environment that is safe for employees, contractors, clients and visitors. Employees need to be protected against all hazards to health and safety emanating from or linked to their activities at work.
The purpose of this programme is to ensure that everyone in the organization should apply basic health and safety legislation in the form of standards and procedures governing health and safety in the workplace, to ensure that they contribute to a safe and healthy environment for themselves and others.
